[Oakhurst, California] – Yosemite/Sequoia RC&DC (Y/S RC&DC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a microgrant from the Sierra Institute as part of the Sierra to California All-Lands Enhancement (SCALE) initiative. This funding will enable increases in collaborative capacity, benefiting National Forests and Grasslands and focusing on wildfire-impacted landscapes.

The microgrant provides nearly $10,000 in funding to catalyze landscape-scale projects and promote shared stewardship in the Southern Sierra, with the aim to expand forest health and wildfire prevention efforts. The funding will be used to enhance the Sierra-Sequoia Stewardship Project Hub and Database (PHD), a valuable tool for easing and enhancing collaborative communication and project planning. The PHD will aid the protection of critical forested landscapes impacted by wildfire and will help Y/S RC&DC advance its mission to create resilient, healthy, and safe communities and ecosystems. The pilot version of the PHD is live and open for project submissions at sierrasequoiaphd.com. Keep an eye out for our upcoming webinar on utilizing this important tool!

The Project Hub’s primary objectives are to:

  • Streamline project sharing within and across counties, especially in high priority areas within and adjacent to the Sierra and Sequoia National Forests.

  • Provide easy access to natural resources and socioeconomic data, helping organizations, agencies, and collaborative groups scope projects and set strategic priorities.

  • Serve as a central resource for information on agency-led projects and planning efforts, including those by the US Forest Service, CAL FIRE, and CALTRANS.

“This grant funding is an impactful step forward in expanding the reach and impact of our Sierra Sequoia Project Hub and Database (PHD). By growing this platform, we’re making it easier for partners to connect, share resources, and collaborate on wildfire prevention, community protection, and landscape restoration. Our five-county region faces pressing challenges, and stronger collaboration is key to addressing them. With this support, we can enhance data sharing, improve project coordination, and ultimately create healthier, more resilient forests and communities. We truly appreciate the Sierra Institute and the SCALE initiative for their dedication to bringing people together and supporting the partnerships that make this work possible” - Erin Capuchino, Executive Director of Y/S RC&DC.
